Poindexter verdict may trigger grand jury questions in Iran Contra

Washington AP reports prosecutors may call Oliver North and John Poindexter before a federal grand jury to probe Iran Contra questions. Poindexter could appear after his June 11 sentencing following Saturday's verdict for conspiracy obstruction and lying to Congress.

Negligence denied in fatal ferry fire

In Lysekil Sweden AP reports the ferry captain denied improper conduct as rescue began and a 150 death toll was estimated after the Scandinavia Star fire. Investigations by Swedish Norwegian and Danish officials run parallel to a police probe into arson suspicions. The captain said he left the ship only after flames closed the bridge and a full evacuation was not possible.
