Woman kills husband after threat to family dog

Ottawa Youth Project hires director for mentoring plan

In December the Ottawa Youth Project hires a director to start a corrections style youth mentoring program patterned after Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Olathe Center Transforms Vision Into Themed Space

Weir recalls initial doubt as he secured funding for a space that grew from an empty room into a themed indoor environment. A mountain tunnel rain display, a pink purple calendar elephant, a 25 foot mural, a mini golf course with varied holes, an old western town, electric jeeps, gift shops, prizes, a pizza shop, and snack bar now fill the venue in Olathe.

Harris defends herself in live TV interview after dismissal

In a late night TV appearance Harris praised her defense and questioned the prosecution while accusing sheriff deputies of stoking racial tension among jurors. Deputy John Castro denied the accusation yet said Judge Lance Ito was looking into the matter. Harris disputed her dismissal reason and said she had never been a victim of domestic abuse, though she acknowledged a 1988 custody filing alleging her husband shoved her and forced sex.

Ottawa hosts a packed weekend of events including the high school talent show at 7 tonight and 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the south gym with $3 adults $2 students.
