More Hurricanes Predicted for 2002 Season
Top forecaster William Gray of Colorado State University told the 2002 National Hurricane Conference in Orlando that the season could see 12 named storms, seven hurricanes, and three major storms. He noted El Nino effects may lower activity and estimated a 75 percent chance of a major hurricane hitting the U.S. coast.
