Supreme Court Divided On Negligence Ruling
The Kansas Supreme Court split 4 to 3 over whether a defendant who settles with plaintiffs can sue other potentially liable parties not named in the suit under the state's comparative negligence law. The ruling centers on a 1979 collision in Pottawatomie County that killed three and injured others, prompting multiple lawsuits against Union Pacific and its engineer.
