First Negro to direct major film set for Warner Bros
Gore Parks, a Life photographer and author, becomes the first Black director signed to a major studio. He will direct The Learning Tree film in Fort Scott Kansas next August for Warner Bros Arts, composing the score and writing its musical background. Parks recalls a hard upbringing and early work that led to this milestone, hoping it will inspire other Black artists.
