Do's and don'ts for comforting bereaved parents
A Santa Monica reader submits practical guidance for friends supporting families after a child’s death. Do apologies and allow grief to unfold, discuss the child, involve siblings, and reinforce care quality. Don’ts warn against avoidance, judgment, replacing loss, or doubting distress, with cautions about sensitive remarks.
