Southside Sewer Plan Okayed By Ottawa Officials
Ottawa City Commissioners voted unanimously to build a sewer main for southside development and to make the two hour Main Street parking limit permanent. The project from US-59 and 23rd Street to the west of the Santa Fe tracks costs about 87000 dollars with developers paying hookups. Wal Mart owns the vacant tract slated for McDonalds first, with opposition from neighbor M E Reinecke over city subsidies. The plan allows future growth west of the railroad and assigns lateral costs to property owners. The parking change makes downtown two hours for most areas, with private and off street lots exempt and a two hour limit retained on the 200 block of Main.
