INCREASED HEIGHTFOR BIG DAM ASKEDThe Metropolitan Water District Board has ordered resolutions to be drawn up asking that the height of Boulder Dam be increased from 550 feet to 575 feot in -order to gain an additional 100,000 horsepower. Because of the battle that has started over the allocations of power, the dam should be built as high as feasible, according to Chairman Whitsett and Chief Engineer Weymouth. The added horsepower will increase the power output available to Southern California If all the States take their maximum quota. Chairman Whitsett said that the resolutions should be very carefullv drawn in order to make apparent that one of the objects in asking for increased water •• wer is the conservation of natural re. ) i* cos of oil and gas. Paul E. Schwab, of Beverly Hills, John R. Richards of Bos Angeles, and Franklin Thomas of Patadena. together with W. B. Matthews and Engineer Weymouth were appointed by the board to draw up the resolutions.The actual wmrk of determining the route of the Colorado River aqueduct will be started November 25th.Los Angeles City has 2G men employed in making the survey in this district. They are camping at the Cliff House at Newberry.
