Word was received last week of the death of John Ernest Engel, 30, on June 2, at Pickle Crow, Ont., following a canoeing acci dent. John was drowned when the canoe overturned as one of its occupants was attempting to start the outboard motor. He was born at Ladywood and during the Second World War served with the P.P.C.L.L and the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals, receiving his discharge after six years of service. On his return from service he started in the taxi business in Beausejour, later going to Pickle Crow where he was employed at the time of his death. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. John Clows of Dryden, Ont.; one brother, Joseph Matthew Engel, of Winnipeg; also one sister, Mrs. Frank Wojcik, of Beausejour Burial was made at Pickle Crow, Ont
