Duane Scott Ordained Into Baptist MinistrySc1*.i „S.£»ssL-d)fs.}-Zfir3-ree,idt-ididide-leleatssceeside-chists-3ofe-€Sn-vaarJ.eeis-rkofAn Ordination Council, representing the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches of Iowa and Nebaska, met June the 3rd, at the invitation of the Calvary Baptist Church of Greene, to examine their pastor R. Duane Scott, for ordination to the Gospel Ministry.At 2:30 p. m, Chairman of the Calvary Baptist Church board, William Kline, called the meeting to order. Mr. Ira McRoberts, church clerk, read the invitation and took the roll call of those piesent. Nineteen messengers from 11 churches were present. Baptist pastors attending were:Rev G. Arthur Woolsey and Rev David Moore of the Walnut Street Baptist Church of Waterloo; Rev. Donald McKay, pastor of the Burton Avenue Baptist Church in Waterloo; Rev. Clair Saliers, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church in Forest City; Rev. George Knutson, pastor of the Grace Baptist Church of Cor-with, Rev. Vern Prugh, pastor of the Faith Baptist Church of Marble Rock; Rev. Edwin Cole-son, pastor of the LeClaire Baptist Church of LeClair; Rev. Elder. Pals, pastor of the First Baptist Church of New Hartford and Rev. A T. Rollene, pastor of the Horton Baptist Church at HortonAlso Rev. Merwin Burman, pastor of the Immanuel Baptist Church of Newton; Rev. Donald Warden, pastor and Rev. Ward Harris, Missionary, from the First Baptist Church of Shell Rock; Rev. Edward Stiner, representing the Grace Baptist Church of Omaha, Nebraska andDr. Harry Gray, representing the Omaha Baptist Bible Institute.Rev. Burman was chosen moderator and Rev.#Prugh was chosen clerk. Pastor Scott then gave his testimony of salvation and explained his call to the ministry, after which he read his doct-inal statement. The council then questioned him regarding these things. At the close of the questioning the ordaining council recommended that the Greene Church proceed with the ordination. Supper was served by the ladies of the church.The Ordination service was held at 8:00 o'clock p.m. with Rev. Burman directing the service. Rev. Pals lead the song service. Rev. Harris read the scripture, Rev. Stiner lead in. prayer. Rev. Warden brought the charge to the candidate, Rev. Knutson brought the charge to the church, Rev. Saliers delivered the ordination sermon, Dr. Gray lead the ordination, prayer and Rev. Scott gave the benediction.Rev. Scott was born in Randolph, Nebraska, in 1917 and graduated from high school there in 1935. He moved to Denver, Colorado, in 1938 and in 1941 he married Mildred Harris there.They sold their business interests in Denver and enrolled in the Omaha Baptist Bible Institute in 1947 and graduated there in 1951. During the training period he served as pastor at the First Baptist Church in Silver City.After graduation Rev. Scott received the license to serve in theman Edeker of Allison, on Sun day evening, June 9, at 8 o’clock, in the First Presbyterian Church in Greene.Rev. G. F. Butler performed the double ring ceremony. The altar was decorated with two baskets of pink peonies and painted daisies. Two candelabra with white candles finished the setting.Miss Carol Deines was organist and accompanied Miss Joyce Fid- Mr dick as she sang “Because,” and ■ Kir Walk Hand in Hand”. Also “The j the Wedding Prayer” as the couple knelt at the altar.The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was attired in a walt2 length gown of imported shiffley embroidery, fashioned with a fitted bodice\at 1Moweito : sun »Fis.oreDa:cotera : ace worostheltheFrlt;tesofcaiand a self scalloped portrait wh neckline with short slecwes and sag long matching mitts. The full gathered skirt was embroidered and scalloped lavishly at the hemline.She wore a fingertip veil of imported silk illusion that was caught to a coronet of sequins and seed pearls. She« wore a single strand of pearls, a gift ofthe groom, and carried a colonial bouquet of pink roses with pastel sweet peas, and lillies of the valley.The matron of honor was Mrs Farol Hendrickson of Roslyn, South Dakota, cousin of the bride She wore a waltz length pink formal with a matching pink head band. She carried a colonial bouquet of pink roses with pastel sweet peas and Ullies of the valley with pink streamersMrs Jan Miller of Britt, sister of the groom, was first bridesmaid. She wore a yellow nylon over net fitted bodice dress with a full gathered skirt caught up with rose buds and a matching yellow head band.She carried a basket of yellow and pink rose buds. The basket was made by Mrs. Henry Edeker of Allison, grandmother of thegroom Roger Johnson, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer. He carried a white satin pillow trimmed with white carnations. Mrs. Everette Kivcll of Shell Rock, aunt of the bride, made the pillow. She also made the bouquets, corsages and boutan/-neires.The best man was Gerry Johnson of Greene, brother of thebride; groomsmen were Stanley Miller of Britt, brother-in-lawof the groom, and Mervin Edeker of Allison, cousin of thegroom. The groom, best man and groomsmen wore white bouton-neires.Ushers were Ray Johnson of Greene, brother of the bride, andwiCOte*thoffrlt;BiRcAiN«DiWORKERministry from the Grace Baptist Church in Omaha. Nebraska, and was called to the Trinity Baptist Church in Council Bluffs. In 1953 the Scott family left Council Bluffs to Ogelloia. Nebraska, where he established a new Church. (He was called to serve in the Calvary Baptist Church in Greene in April, 1955.Rev. and Mrs. Scott are the ■parents of 5 children; Michael, 15, Allan, 13, Stephen, 11, and twin daughters, Janet and Margaret, 6.
