Plymouth County Group is Formed to Secure Fair Tax Equalization About 125 Plymouth county repre sentatives of independent stores met at the Union Hotel in LeMars, Tues day evening, last week, and effected a county organization to further the in terests of the independent merchant. All of the larger towns of the county had nearly all their business houses represented, fifty or more of those present being from LeMars. A county organization was formed by electing 1K. C. Thorson, of Akron, chairman; Fred Philips, of Remsen, vice chairmen, and Ed, Tentinger, of LeMars, secretary. The following were named as members of the execu tive committee: Will Dennler, Mer will; Frank Stamp, LeMars; Joe Bo- Bet Hinton; Fred Philips, Remsen, JB. Knowles, Kingsley; Lowell Bur vill Akron. Reports were made by persons pres ent on the recent trip to Des Moines, and several other matters of general interest to the group were browslit up for consideration. The new president, BE. O. Thorson, discussed at some length the plans and purposes of the organization, and several others con tributed suggestions. The purpose of this organization, according to the secretary, is to back a movement to establish the equaliza tion of taxes among all business firms and to better conditions among inde pendent merchants. GRABBED FOR ROOST RAIDING According to the Sioux City Jour nal, three alleged chicken thieves were arrested there, near Fourth and Vir ginia streets, early Sunday when they returned to a car that was being watched by police. The men gave the following names, ages and addresses: Harry Lynn, 43, 602 South Wall street; Tom Sheely, 39, 614 South Wall street, and Melvin Lynn, 24. The arrests followed a report to po lice that three men had been seen in a chicken house on the farm of Henry Borchers, on Perry Creek road in Plymouth county. The license num ber of a car that had been parked in a grove near the farm was reported to police and the car later was found parked near Fourth and Virginia streets. Detectives Henry Schuldt and Earl Morgan spotted the car and arrested the three men when they ap proached the automobile later. Sheriff Ralph Rippey, of Plymouth county, requested the help of police here and aided in the arrests. The men were taken to LeMars by the sheriff after being held overnight in the city jail.
