Westfield residents report visits from Sioux City and Centerville, with guild meetings, church activities, and a reorganized independent baseball team planning schedules. Notable items include a theater program in Portland township, cattle shipments to Sioux City, seed-loan services, and a move by the Hummel and Boekelman families.
Special correspondence reports Mrs McInnis of Akron visiting the Chris Boekelman home this week. Hank Burnight and wife along with Chris Scheffen and wife visited the John Skogman home Tuesday evening. D K Bennett wife and A L Bennett of Hawarden were with the Larsons at Alton. A town group gathered at the John Skogman home Friday to celebrate their twenty fifth wedding anniversary.

County Speaking and Spelling Contest at Elk Point drew attendees. H R Anderson left for Duluth to join Minnesota conference session. Wm Ericson and Rev Edward Jeft planned to attend and visit Rock Creek relatives. Teckla Anderson visited Sioux City. Arthur Smith and Wayne Waterman hosts. Trene Carr Bertil family mentioned.
Westin and Mr and Mrs Wayne Waterman of Sioux City spent the weekend nearby. Imogene Johnson stayed Monday night with the Hultgrens. Dorothy Hultgren went to Sioux City and stayed with Wayne Waterman’s family. Wilma Olson visited the Clifford Johnson home while Ross and Mrs Root toured Sioux Falls. About twenty ladies surprised Mrs John Hanson in Akron for her birthday with a three piece toilet set. Dorothy Hultgren D C Vick and Art Clacys visited Miss Wilma Ericson in Omaha. Mr and Mrs Geo Adamson and Ronald called on Emner Hultgren. FH Harwig spent the evening with George Adamson. Teeckla Anderson visits with Mrs Wm Ericson for several days.
Special Correspondent notes two pictures of former residents in city papers this week Mrs Harold Cooper a Sioux City Woman's club leader is featured in its activities and Bonnie Milner a girl in the Orpheum theater school play Friday The last card club meeting was with the C P S Knapps Saturday Harold Cooper and Mrs Roy Cassen won high scores for the evening and Bob Hunter and Mrs Harold Cooper the year's high scores Other items include a trip to Minneapolis for Mrs Cooper and family and a birth announced for Frank VornDrak's son on March 27 plus local visits and sorority leadership changes.
Special correspondence from Garland reports social visits at multiple homes including the Alfred Swanson and Wyatt Heyl households near Akron. Families Swanson Lewison Hamilton and Busch hosted and attended, plus a large crowd at Monday Farmers Union. A Thursday Akron free movie by August Lundgren drew praise.
Mrs Fay Smith improves daily after illness at Akron hospital. Frank and. Mrs Smith attended funeral of their nephew's son Harry Norton in Sioux City. Mrs Leo Delano and Deloris arrive from Portland to visit C Johnson family. Mrs Katie Sullivan died in Philadelphia after long cancer battle. Farm Bureau Home Talent Night set for April 10 at Le Mars High School auditorium. Special correspondence reports the Alfred Miller family spending Sunday at the Lone Parker home near Richland with a note on Mrs. Roy Abraham undergoing a surgical procedure.
Myr and Mrs Harvey Welch welcomed a group including Mr and Mrs Russell Huff and Marjorie Holmquist from Sioux City Monday evening. Leonard Carlson, Charley Shuck, and George Carlson joined the list of visitors, with Leonard Carlson spending Sunday night at the Welch home. Alfred Millers shopped in Sioux City Monday. Eimery Carlson and Alvin Carlson, Dan Blake also spent Tuesday night at the Welch home. Eugene Filton visited from Vermillion Sunday.
Adaville activities cover supper guests at the Alfred Fry home and entertaining hosts at Tom Dreeszen and Bertsel Brown households. Visitors include Evelyn Kale from Merrill and Evelyn Baldwin from Akron. A W M A gathering and Christian Endeavor meeting are noted, with prayers and plans for missionary work and a hospital visit news about Rev S A Jacobson.
Delegations from Adaville and Akron attended services as guest participants. Eldon Bryant, pupil of District 3B, won first place in a county spelling contest held in TeMars. Western Union college Men’s Glee club will concert at Adaville United Brethren church on April 7 at 8 PM. 4-H Girls club met at Hannah Luecken’s home Saturday. John son township director is Mrs. Bertsel Brown. A birthday dinner honored Blanche Dreeszen and sons at W W Zellers home with several relatives attending.
