Arrests of Pittsburgh officials on bribery charges

Seven members of the finance committee and select councils in Pittalig, Pa were arrested Monday night on charges of bribery and corruption in past two years legislation. The Civic Voters' League filed the charges and bonds ranged from 15,000 to 3,000.

Tons of Xmas Letters in Huge Chicago Mail Surplus

Haymarket Riot Victim Dies in Chicago

Chicago police officer Louis Jolson aged 64 who was wounded during the Haymarket riot of 1886 died last night. He was struck in the leg while attempting to disperse the mob and was later escorted home by fellow officers.

Wealthy California banker Lillis jailed six months for land closing

Lillis a wealthy banker and stockman from Le Moule Cal was sentenced by a federal judge at a special session on Monday to six months in jail and a $1000 fine for illegally closing large areas of government land in the Cuutna district. The case will be appealed and Lillis is out on bond.

Fire destroys home near Pekay in Oskaloosa area

A fire at a one and a half story frame home north of old Pekay destroyed the dwelling while Mrs. Harding's father, L. H. English, was inside. Neighbors rescued all household goods, but timbers burned into the afternoon. The home, valued at about two thousand dollars, suffered severe damage. Potatoes in the cellar were ruined. English escaped by sliding down a lightning rod after climbing to a window.
