Tree Killed Clarence Smet at Work on Fire Lane
Winnebago County highway department employee Clarence Smet aged 48 was killed when a tree fell on him while he dozed a tree to create a protective fire wall off Highway 110 seven miles west of Winchester. He died at Mercy Hospital after the fall occurred shortly before 8:30 a.m. Survived by wife Ada a son Gerald two daughters Judith Bednarek and Joanne Kemink. Body taken to Marouards Funeral Home for arrangements.
