Daren Hinderman a two year old resident of rural Cuba City drowned Wednesday after falling into a farm reservoir. A Dickeyville rescue squad failed to revive him at the scene.

Stenographer Bequest Nears Million for Cancer Fund
New York AP reports Lydia Candall a Jersey City stenographer and secretary from 1903 to 1939 left a bequest totaling nearly one million dollars to the Damon Runyon Cancer Fund. Her gift included more than 2,000 shares of IBM stock accumulated from her salary, transforming modest savings into a fortune. Candall lived most of her life at the YWCA and died in 1959 at age 87.

The Oshkosh board of vocational and adult education approved a 1964 budget of 300 515 up 15 463 from the current plan. Car Hits Train Kills Appleton Youth
Roger D. Johnson, 18, of 2700 Kesling Ave in Appleton, was killed when his car collided with a Chicago and North Western freight train on Outagamie County Trunk BB near the Butte des Morts golf club. The train, traveling about 45 mph, blew its whistle but Johnson did not stop. His car was dragged about 700 feet and wedged under a car. Coroner Bernard Kemps cited a possible sun obstruction.
