News of the death of Congressman Robert R. Hitt of Illinois at his Narragansett Pier summer home follows a period of ill health. He died at age seventy two from heart failure after a long illness, with Mrs. Hitt and his two sons at his bedside.
Washington, Sept. 20. Rep Hitt longtime foreign affairs chairman dies after two years of illness that weakened his ability to serve. Born Urbana Ohio 1824 he worked as reporter diplomat and legislator a key figure in Lincoln era politics and the Hawaii annexation commission.
James Glennon aged eighty two, longtime riverman of the Wisconsin valley, died this morning in Stevens Point. He leaves four sons and two daughters, including E D Glennon editor of The Stevens Potat Gazette.
An extremist group within the Union of Russian People attempted to spark an anti Jewish outbreak in Oulessa by attacking a Jewish crowd. Police and bystander resistance dispersed the mob, despite official assurances that such actions would be allowed.
Wikiar J Bryan and Mrs Bryan arrived from Augusta and will attend two receptions from 11 to 12, a luncheon, and a public address at Ponce de Leon park. A dollar dinner follows with 400 plates. a second speech is expected at the dinner.

The Bates National Bank of Butler Mo was closed by the board of directors to liquidate. Afr W J Butler named receiver. The bank, organized in 1870, had deposits of 127000 and loans of 172451 with 50600 paid-in capital. dissensions among officials cited as cause.
The Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen session concentrates on constitutional amendments. Fifty may be discussed with 22 sections in the constitution. 78 sections have been tackled by noon. Officers will not be elected this week. the convention continues into the latter part of next week.
A Waukesha Journal dispatch reports Alderman Edward Foster, 55, a prominent Republican politician and former druggist and wool buyer, died at his East Broadway home. The Milwaukee origin note is dated September 22.
L. C. Whitney, secretary of the Merchants and Manufacturers' association, resigns because of ill health. The resignation is accepted and takes effect October 15.

The matter was reviewed last summer and disposed of in a satisfactory way with everything handled properly.
The steam ship City of Seattle bound for Alaska ran ashore at Trial Island ten miles from Victoria in heavy fog at five this morning. Salvador and two tugs from Victoria and Port Townsend assisted. All passengers are reported safe and the steamer is not badly damaged. Scows are being taken to the cargo and she may be floated with high water tonight.
Paducah Ky Sept 20 The Red Koot Saddlery Company the oldest leather working plant in the state and long a government contractor made an assignment today No statements of assets and liabilities have been filed The failure is understood to result from labor troubles.
In New York on September 20 the motion by Harry K. Thaw’s counsel to make permanent a temporary writ barring the district attorney and grand jury from examining witnesses was referred to Recorder Goff. The decision notes that further action will be deferred to allow a motion before the recorder.
The San Diego harbor blast last June destroyed the boiler of the gunboat Gennington. Sixty five crew members were sent to Annapolis for instruction of midshipmen in engineering work. All four boilers were removed and the exploded boiler remains in its original post explosion state.
Winneconne Wisconsin September 20 Special to The Northwestern the coroner inquest into the death of the deceased has adjourned again. The adjournment is set for Monday at ten o clock in the forenoon due to the pending report from Milwaukee regarding analysis of stomach contents. District attorney notice at Oshkosh requested the adjournment, drawing a large crowd this forenoon. No further developments reported.

James Muttars and Harry Porter were apprehended near the old Lake Shore depot after police traced a haul of stolen goods. C D Brown resigns from the Sly Aignette position citing poor health after two years of confinement. He will join Hay Hardware as a manager while remaining at 49 Elim Street Omaha home. Brown previously worked seven and a half years for Shmons Hardware in St. Louis.
Special from Marinette reports the city will purchase the water works plant at the end of the current franchise next July. Negotiations are underway and officials will be appointed soon. The council favors the purchase and public sentiment is near unanimous.
