Two Minnesota residents Frank Snider and Mrs Mary Lindow, both about 50, died in a one car crash on Highway 35 six miles north of Hudson in St Croix County. The vehicle left the road, fell 15 feet, slid 400 feet through a field and hit a tree. The Wisconsin toll rose to 605, 45 fewer than a year ago.
Officials expect about 20 000 people to gather in Ashland for President Kennedy's brief stop next Tuesday with a 10 minute conservation speech planned at the Ashland Bayfield county airport. A helicopter tour of the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior is also slated with Sen Gaylord Nelson proposing legislation to create a national park in the area.
Three men from Streator Illinois were killed in a suspected mid air collision four miles south of Hillsboro Wisconsin. The Beech Bonanza from Streator carried Eugene McMillion his son Eugene Jr and Elbert Dietman. A second plane remains unfound as fog and rain hinder searches. Wreckage and fishing gear were found at Ed Stanek farm. The Streator craft left at 4 16 CDT en route to International Falls Minnesota.
Port Arthur and Beaumont faces flood losses exceeding 5 million dollars as eight mayors seek federal disaster aid. More than 3,000 homes were affected with 800 threatened on a levee in Port Acres. Rescue workers and volunteers passed 10,000 sandbags to breach the rising Neches River and protect the area.

New York UPI dispatch says 443,416 tons of newsprint were consumed by U.S. newspapers in August, a 4 percent rise from August 1962. The American Newspaper Publishers Association estimates total newsprint use at 595,290 tons for the month.
Madison Attorney General George Thompson refused a bid by Governor Reynolds to start court action to seat Patrick Lucey on the State Investment Board. Reynolds hired Max Raskin and Philip Padden as special counsel to seek original jurisdiction from the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
The Public Health Service urged high risk groups to get influenza vaccines now. It stated the 1963-44 winter is not expected to produce widespread flu outbreaks.
County aviation committee outlines a tentative 1964 program with expenditures of 39,825 against projected income of 42,033. Forecasts expect 30,518 actual spending for the year.
