A birthday celebration for Mrs Anderson occurred on Grignon street with friends from nearby towns.
A foreign man who left Hertin for New York announced intent to kill President Roosevelt. He traveled toward Washington, asked for a Washington ticket but bought a New York ticket after failing to secure the other. Berlin police relayed the alert to New York authorities.
New York Sept 13 Sir Thomas Lipton decided this morning to send Shamrock out for a final spin before entering the Erte Basin drydock. The yacht will remain in dock until Thursday when she will be officially measured.
Judge Pa Torrance of Minnesota won a unanimous election as commander in chief of the Grand Army of the Republic at the annual convention in Cleveland. The contest ended after General Sickles withdrew, with Torrance ahead 220 to 76 and a move to make the result unanimous. Other national officers were chosen: John McElroy, James O Donnell, W R Thrall, and Rev. L M Boyle. The session adjourned as plans for next encampment were set. Mrs Calista R Jones of Bradford was elected national commander of the Woman's Relief Corps.
