Winnebago County aviation chair Alvin Staffeld and Sup. Louis Zernzach led a meeting in Neenah with Outagamie County officials to push for a regional air service plan. They sought a definite yes or no on a joint Winnebago-Outagamie airport, noting Fond du Lac and Greer Lake must be included. Kaukauna Man On Crew Of Downed Plane
VIENTIANE Laos AP The premier s office said an Air America C46 transport crashed near Tchepone in southern Laos last week after being hit by Pathet Lao ground fire during a refugee supply drop. The crew included three Americans and four Asians with one unidentified body found. Eugene H DeBruin of Kaukauna Wisconsin was aboard. Air America operated for the Vietnamese government. Two planes had been shot down previously on supply missions, one earlier this year and one in 1962.

In Nancy France a 2 year old boy fell fifty feet into an 11 inch pipe housing an elevator counterweight. He broke an ankle but the compressed air inside the pipe cushioned the impact and saved him from worse injuries. Firemen freed him after two hours of effort.

Tragedy on Appleton tracks man killed by C N W train
Martin E. Wollenberg 38, formerly of Tigerton, was killed instantly when struck by a southbound Chicago and Northwestern passenger train at Second and Outagamie Streets in Appleton. The engineer said he saw him moments before impact as the man lay between the tracks, attempting to lift himself. Death caused by a compound skull fracture and brain injury. He was the father of six and currently unemployed.

Polio Strikes Boy In Oshkosh Patient at Mercy Hospital
The season's second bulbar polio case was diagnosed at Mercy Hospital Tuesday evening. Eleven year old Ray S. Johnson, son of Gaylord D. and and Mrs. Johnson of 2433 Jackson Street Road, was admitted at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and described as acutely ill. His immunization history and that of two other children in the family were uncertain. Earlier Oshkosh reported its first polio victim in years, Carol Robinson, who died after ninety days of hospitalization. She was the daughter of Henry J. and Mrs. Robinson of 1503 Beech Street.

ManReceives Life Sentence for Farm Murder
Emil Blesnick, 45, was given a life term in Wisconsin state prison for first degree murder in the shotgun slaying of neighbor Edgar T. Wood, 54, on the porch of Mrs. Elsie Dirnbauer’s farm home. Blesnick pleaded guilty and requested an immediate trial after waiving preliminaries. Wood’s death followed the earlier death of Frank Dirnbauer, ruled a death by own action.

Man Dies From Injuries Suffered In Auto Accident
