Fire marshal to probe Oshkosh fairgrounds blaze
A state fire marshal arrived to help determine the cause of a Saturday blaze that destroyed the main exposition hall at the Winnebago County Fairgrounds. The county board discussed replacing the 210 by 90 foot building under the lease with the fair association, with an early loss estimate around 50 thousand dollars based on 1954 appraisal. Assets worth about 15 thousand were inside the building, and plans to clear the site at Jackson Street and Murdock Avenue were set, pending investigation results.
