United Press reports the Wrangel Island rescue mission, begun Aug. 3 to replace the Crawford expedition, found that all members of the parties apparently perished except for one Eskimo woman cook. She survived by crackers and game and was found alone. The rescue leader Harold Nore said the team reached Wrangell in the power schooner Donaldson. Three Crawford party members died attempting to cross ice to Subemy. another died months earlier. Noice party left thirteen Eskimos and one white man to continue the search for bodies of Crawford, Maurer, and Gale who were lost in ice. Lord Knight of McMinnville, Oregon, died of scurvy June 20.
Associated Press reports testimony by Carrol Atwood, Wisconsin tax commissioner, in the William Juneau suit alleging the state tax commission would disclose income tax data. Atwood asserted annual discrepancies in income taxes of Wisconsin corporations run between two and two and a half million dollars, contrary to expectations the number of people reviewing income records is unclear.
St Louis reads striking new electric charges with a user friendly tier. The clix rate drops to seven cents for the first nine kilowatt hours and three cents for each extra hour. This would place St Louis among the nation’s lowest rates for large cities except Cleveland.

Unite Press reports Ashland Wisconsin received a third raft of logs in a week. Nearly one third of a million dollars worth of pulpwood has been landed for shipment by rail to Wisconsin Rapids. Each raft valued around 260 thousand dollars contains about 7,500 cords of spruce pulpwood sourced from Nippon Bay area.
Harrisburg reports a 155000 mine strike remains in force as parley between operators and union reps adjourns until Wednesday at both sides request. Washington notes 100 days of anthracite and four of bituminous coal stockpiles, while Wilkes-Barre describes a complete work stoppage with 135000 workers observing the strike and mines idle.

Homecoming shifts to October 27, two weeks earlier than in 1922, while rooming houses run at capacity with few vacancies and several new houses added but filled.

About thirty thousand miners were locked out as authorities seek to control the situation and prevent consolidation of miners’ forces.
United Press report details a mob breaking up a Ku Klux Klan gathering in Newcastle Delaware. A burning cross was set and shots and stones were thrown injuring two men seriously while dozens more were beaten or dispersed as approximately 1 000 people, largely youths, confronted the Klansmen amid chants and violence.
