Concession to Hunters Increases Local Licenses

County Clerk Fish issued 617 hunting licenses by noon today for the season opening September 7 in the county. He reported that since receiving the license blanks he had issued 00 licenses, with seventeen more issued this morning. To accommodate applicants he kept the office open until noon and plans to stay open until 6 p.m. for the rest of the week.

St Mary's Hospital replies to inquiry that John Scelmacher is doing very nicely. He was admitted August 22 with tetanus from a nail wound at his home 908 Fifth Street, his stepping on a tack.

Labor Day Picnic in Oshkosh Draws Large Crowd

Labor unions hold a big picnic at Menominee Park Oshkosh to celebrate Labor Day. A crowd fills the grove by the bandstand with hundreds enjoying breezes by the lake and a series of games and prizes promised. Earlier, Building Trades beat Oshkosh Trades and Labor council 12 to 11 in ten innings in a lively baseball game.

Labor Day events at the Fond du Lac County Fair included Oshkosh Garment Workers' union participation at a grove picnic with refreshments stands for the first time. Luther League delegates from Fox River valley cities attended Electric Park for a Luther league picnic. Old Fellows hosts and families joined a South Park picnic. A ping pong tourney featured Mainland routing Bacon, with Mainland seeking the challenge cup. Bacon claimed the runner-up trophy. George W. Bird and family visiting from New London plan several days of visits.

City and County Edge For 1913 Championship Tie Breaker

City and county players split a three game series with a 16 to 14 city win in the deciding noon match. Nichols Ostertag led with three hits apiece as city totaled 14 runs by the eighth inning rally, county countered to 16 in the ninth but fell short. Death of C A Dunham After Second Stroke

C A Dunham longtime commercial traveler dies at 731 Main street after a second stroke following a period of illness of about eleven months. He was born in Malne and lived near Oshkosh most of his life, a member of several fraternal orders. Survived by widow, his mother Mrs Emily Dunham of Omro, and three brothers William Eric and Bert. Funeral Wednesday with 4 pm services at his residence conducted by Rev A C Mee Henry.

At Sunday service Rev. Guenther announced Oshkosh was invited to host the Chicago German conference in 1914. He will attend the Kenosha meeting Wednesday to convey the invitation. The 1894 conference was held in the city, and a return visit by the pastor may follow if accepted.
