Child Wanders Away From School Escorted To Fond du Lac

Nelle Hickok 11, daughter of Mr and Mrs Albert Hickok, left for school with a companion Thursday morning. She then rode an inter urban car to Fond du Lac on her own accord, paying fare with her own money. Police located her that Thursday evening, amid fears of kidnapping from Cahkosi and local inquiries. The girl described a brief pursuit by a dark man before reaching the yard of the First Ward school. Authorities treated the incident as a kidnapping scare, though she was found unharmed and returned home.
