Former President Grover Cleveland arrived from New York and voted at the polling place in Princeton before returning home. John Gerhar eleven year old son of Mr and Mrs Albert Gerhar of 466 Present Street died Monday evening of heart paralysis caused by diphtheria. He was only nine days ill. Funeral services were held at the residence this morning with interment at Riverside cemetery.
The steamship Roanoke docked in Port Townsend bringing 410 passengers and $500000 in gold dust. It left Nome on the seventh and reports the Cleveland wrecked twenty five miles west of Cape Nome. The US cutter McCullough saved all but one second officer who was drowned.
A Northwestern Ore Line train wreck near Tron Mountain Michigan killed Fireman George Hall of Wilson. Tim Hogan of Green Bay and Conductor Swaby of Escanaba were severely injured but expected to recover. The wreck followed the spreading of rails at about forty five miles per hour.
