The Pennsylvania Railroad board announces an extra dividend of 1 percent on capital stock, in addition to the usual 24 percent annual dividend, payable after November 40 1900 to stockholders on the books at end of yesterday. Floral tributes from Masons Epworth League local church WCTU Bank of Kaukauna and numerous donors. The services were simple yet impressive reflecting on Brokaw a prominent local figure.
Charles I Jones secretary to the late William Marsh Rice attempted suicide in his Tombs cell using a small knife after being jailed with Albert T. Patrick on forgery charges. He was found bleeding, revived by ambulance staff, and guarded by police and keepers. Reports say Jones made no confession despite third degree questioning. They argued against Bryan and praised McKinley expansion and a strong but restrained foreign policy.
Emil Prong Philip Wolf James Wilson and J L Madden longtime Wisconsin Telephone workers were charged with grand larceny for stealing 209 pounds of lead pipe and 277 pounds of copper wire valued at 47 55 stored in the Algoma block basement. They surrendered on their own recognizance on recommendation of A C Gallagher local manager. John F Kluwin represents the defendants.

The Foote-Cornish Milling Company plant on Broad street sold at public auction for 6700 to A H Bartlett of the city. W K Rideout acted as agent for the company to dispose of the property. Liens and judgments totalling about 3500 were noted. bids moved above 6000 before Bartlett secured the final price. The mill, built in 1870, has a capacity of 150 barrels daily and underwent remodelling two years prior.
London reports Queen Victoria has approved the appointment of Lord Salisbury as premier and lord of the great seal and the Marquis of Lansdowne as secretary of state for foreign affairs. William St John Brodorte named secretary of state for wars and Selhiorne as first lord of the vault. Myr. cs. T. Ritege appointed secretary of state for home affairs.

James Allen of Butte living on Mores Avenue had a horse run away on Algoma Street at 3:15 PM. The rig overturned injuring Allen and the horse. a crowd gathered as a physician treated him at Wakeman's drug store. The horse was killed to end the suffering.
Elections proceed across London as twenty eight boroughs elect councillors and aldermen. Nearly 2000 candidates contend for 1362 posts, with contests largely along political lines as the metropolis transitions from vestry to mayoral boroughs.
Ice in Wages, New York, Nov 1 It is announced that prices of anthracite coal have been advanced fifty cents a ton over the nominal price of the July circular by the anthracite mining and carrying companies. The change covers the whole country beginning today.
