More than 300 men scoured Sawyer Harbor area for Edith Dorschel, daughter of a Green Bay merchant, missing since yesterday while picking wildflowers. Authorities fear kidnapping as coast guards and bloodhounds comb the harbor and nearby brush.
Senator La Follette will speak at 9 p m EST over the Columbia system on the issue of secret senate sessions. He praises the United Press roll call publication and criticizes the senate rules committee for trying to discipline the press. The talk is hosted by the National Radio Forum linked to The Washington Star.
Customs men searched the liner President Harding on its first westward Atlantic crossing as a wet ship. The vessel was recently sold by the government to United States Lines which began a liquor serving policy aboard.
The Chicago Journal reports that Scarface Al Capone, jailed in Philadelphia, was escorted by Detective James Malone from a gang peace meeting in Atlantic City to Philadelphia and arrested by his escort. A gangland source says Capone asked to see “Shoey” and a flatfoot, leading to the undercover arrest the same night.
Dispatches report a bitter three day fight at Cerro de la Villa near Guadalajara with a strongly fortified insurgent camp spotted by airplanes. A federal infantry battalion two cavalry regiments and an artillery unit attacked as rebels withdrew to a final fortified line in the mountains. Brisk fighting continued through dusk yesterday.
Walter Buckley was seriously hurt when his car crashed through a wooden bridge railing and tumbled twenty feet to railroad tracks below. He was trapped beneath wreckage and believed to have a fractured skull.
In Janesville Wisconsin barbers raise Saturday prices to 35 cents for a shave and 65 cents for a haircut as a response to busy business on weekends.
London reports King George again ill with a chest abscess forming under an old scar and draining while he remains in bed. A minor operation is implied as drainage proceeds but his general condition is said to be good. Anxious public reaction followed news of the royal illness.
At the Metro politan fair grounds in Middle Village Queens a Memorial Day auto race went deadly. Two spectators died and four others were injured when a dirt track car veered off course and struck bystanders as it overturned. Damascus McKenna age 48 of Flushing was identified among the dead. Bernie Katz 23 of Brooklyn and Jacob Anselmi 27 of Elmhurst were among the injured. An unidentified boy about 14 suffered injuries. The car was traveling about eighty miles per hour when it left the track and hit a group of spectators. Katz swerved to avoid a running child. Police think the injured boy was the one Katz saw.
Washington reports conferees resume talks on the farm bill with signs a debenture clause may be dropped. The House seeks a six member board while the Senate wants twelve. a nine member compromise is likely next. Both chambers meet briefly and plan recess until Monday.
Milwaukee U P reports Fletcher Williams, a Negro, fled his home pursued by his wife who hurled kitchen utensils. He pulled a false fire alarm to summon help, claiming he wanted assistance. Five fire apparatus units arrived, Williams was arrested for the false alarm and his wife held on disorderly conduct charges.
New York aviator Charles A. Lindbergh and his bridegroom status bring him into social society circles as his name is expected to appear in the forthcoming summer edition of the social register. The listing signals rising public interest in the couple and their social standing.

Mrs. Michael Helein age 26 of Appleton died after her car hit a culvert three miles south of Seymour injuring her neck skull and scalp. Evelyn Trautman age 20 of Kaukaunee was hospitalized with a basal skull fracture from a separate auto culvert crash on Highway 163 while a group of girls traveled together.
Plymouth Wisconsin report says Adolph Laumann Glen Beulah Canning Company field manager injured when a Northwestern train collided with his truck near Glen Beulah depot. He is in critical condition with a fractured skull and other injuries.
Paris report says Big Bill Tilden defeated Italian Baron Nemurpurgo in the French championships quarter finals after dropping the first two sets. Final scores were 9 1, 3 6, 6 1, 6 2, 8 6.
Arch Coleman resigns as Minneapolis postmaster effective June 5 after filing as a candidate in Minnesota’s special congressional election. Announcement came from Washington after several days of submission.
Secretary Stimson, commenting on President Hoover s Arlington remarks, warned that the United States naval construction program at 1 170 800 000 faced by far the heaviest burden on the world. He said other nations would follow and the economic strain could last fifteen years, despite aims of peace.

Lorraine Burke a 19 year old waitress visited Fred Willett, jailed on assault and robbery charges, and said she would marry him despite his imprisonment. She attended his hearing and remained supportive, insisting she still loves him and would marry him.
