In Clintonville a 14 year old boy stabbed a 62 year old woman, Pearl Behnke, 13 times as she walked to visit relatives. He claimed he jumped out and blacked out. Behnke survived surgery and was transported to St Elizabeths in Appleton. The boy, an eighth grader, was detained in Outagamie County Jail pending a mental examination.

A Van Dyne resident, Harry W. Anthes, 57, was killed when his car ran off Highway 49 near Iola and struck a large rock. The accident occurred shortly after midnight with no witnesses.
