Four Aviators Die As Plane Crashes North of Glen Ellyn
Four crew members of The Chicago Daily News plane Blue Streak were killed in a crash during a 2000 kilometer speed test supervised by the National Aeronautical Association. Victims: Shirley J. Short chief pilot Richard K. Peck co-pilot Lewis R. Rice radio operator Robert Gormley mechanic. The tandem motor sesquiplane, loaded with 5000 kilograms, plunged near Glen Ellyn Illinois after a wing failed. Short and Gormley died, others injured. The craft had traveled from Curtiss-Reynolds Airport toward Serena Illinois before returning to Chicago.

Richland Center Wisconsin coroner investigated the death of James Kaae Avoca whose body was found in the Wisconsin river at Richland City. Kane had been working in Madison prior to his disappearance in May. Brother-in-law A F McNulty identified the body, last seen near Verona. Receipts for two grips from Madison to Avoca found in his coat pocket. Body found yesterday by J W Roberts Gotham. A cheap watch and 61 cents were in the pockets.

Five men burn McHenry pavilion and kidnap watchman
A gang of five men burned Clarence Eisen's new $20,000 Dancing Pavilion near McHenry, abducted night watchman Thomas Aylward, 65, and drove him 45 miles to Schiller Park where he was freed. Eisen suspects rival business interests orchestrated the arson and kidnapping, with both men naming possible instigators. Aylward reported the incident to Police Chief Leo Grosch after release. Eisen had opened the pavilion a week and a half earlier and Aylward had worked there one week.
