Trial of Duncan to Resume May 31 in Milwaukee
Mihhwatkee District Attorney Herbert J. Steffes announced the first degree manslaughter trial of Thomas M. Duncan executive secretary to Governor La Follette would be resumed in municipal court at 9:30 a.m. May 31. Circuit Judge G. N. Risjord was unavailable, detained in Iron county where a jury had been called. The trial began last Tuesday and was adjourned Friday after the state finished its case and the defense presented 16 witnesses. Duncan is charged with killing Henry F. Schuette a 69 year old retired West Allis businessman in an automobile accident on the West Wisconsin avenue viaduct March 9. The state says he was intoxicated and fled the scene. The defense has called physicians and psychiatrists possibly to argue illness rather than drunkenness. Steffes plans to use medical experts to counter such a defense but may be hindered by May 31 delay as doctors may leave for conventions in California early June. He will confer with them immediately.

Inquest Set in Deaths of Two From Oshkosh
Coroner Ed ward A Fischer announced an in quest would be held in Sun Prairie village hall tomorrow afternoon in the deaths of Edwin Hafemann aged 44 and Frances Galica 21 both of Oshkosh. They were injured May 14 in a automobile crash on Highway 351 between Columbus and Sun Prairie. They rode with George Rechie of Omre whose car collided with Edward L Toe of Madison.

Grandstand fire destroys Janesville fairgrounds
