Disturbances in Four Big Cities Disturbances in Four Big Cities

In Chicago, 30 arrested and three officers hurt during a two hour melee after a Malcolm X memorial service. San Diego saw 34 Negroes and 4 whites arrested amid a rock show riot. San Francisco witnessed a clash between Arab students and Jewish listeners in Golden Gate Park. Vallejo reported three hours of disorder at Floyd Terrace housing, with one arrest and a four year old girl hospitalized.

Madison Students Hoped Quiet Exam Week Returns

Police and bus drivers hoped UW Madison students would study during finals week after a wave of protests over a disputed one way bus lane. City officials threatened action while university President Robben Fleming defended the campus response, noting no crackdown. More than 30 arrests occurred during the demonstrations sparked by a bus route dispute linked to a past accident.

Neenah Girl Named District Alice Finalist for State

Miss Pat Dobberke a 2 year old junior art major at Cardinal Stretch College Milwaukee was chosen to represent Region 7 in the Alice in Dairyland state competition. She will compete with 13 regional winners for the title June 10 in Green Bay. Dobberke, a Xavier High School graduate, has Been active in 4 H and won sewing and wool contests. Other finalists listed include Kay Goman Paula Kirchner Vicki McDonald Nedra Newman and Marilyn Schmuhl. The event included registration at Markesan High School a city welcome from Mayor Walter Kienas a judges interview luncheon and a parade with the winner announced at a banquet.

Motorcyclist 28 Killed in Appleton Crash

David William Brown aged 28 of 3506 W Northland Ave Appleton died when his motorcycle hit a road divider sign on County Trunk BR. He was pronounced dead at St Elizabeth Hospital. The coroner cited a skull fracture. Brown left the Flagstone Bar minutes before the 12 44 a m crash. His wife followed but did not witness the impact. A passing motorist moved a suitcase from the road and alerted authorities. Brown is the county s eighth traffic fatality in 1967 and the second motorcycle death in May. He was born Feb 28 1949, a Kaukauna High School graduate, employed as a draftsman at Appleton Coated Paper Co., and a former US Army Reserve member. Survivors include his wife Verna, son Steve, his parents Elmer and Mrs Brown, and three brothers Dale Roy and Raymond. Funeral is 9 am Tuesday at St Pius X Church Appleton with burial at St Patrick s Cemetery Wrightstown. Visitation after 4 pm today at Fargo Funeral Home Kaukauna. rosary 8 pm. Continued on Page 12. One Dead Nine Hurt in Chicago Rampage

In Chicago on a weekend night four youths used a borrowed car to rob and shoot pedestrians, killing Dwight Wynne and wounding nine others, three critically. Police detained James Tubbs Cornelius McCary Carl Dixon and Edward Moody as the investigation tied them to the spree.

In London a bicycle rider, 12 year old Chris Shaw, collided with a mounted policeman after failing to see the officer. Both were unhurt but the horse briefly sat on the bicycle.

Fire erupted in Belgium's largest department store L Innovation in Brussels during the Dutch hour. Explosions trapped many on upper floors as shoppers leaped to flee flames. U S planes breached the Buddha's birthday cease fire and bombed Hanoi with reports of shooting down a MIG. CTK said Hanoi lost power and water after a major plant attack. Seven Dead In Head On Train Crash

Seven railroad employees were killed and two missing after two New York Central diesel engines collided head on in the West Side yard Manhattan. Four engines and a dozen freight cars derailed as a ball of flame rose. rescue teams recovered seven bodies within two hours. The accident, blamed on human error, left two men unaccounted for and several injured in serious condition.
