George A. Miller of South America was elected bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church by the general conference on the fourth ballot. He won 70 votes while 551 were needed. Titus Lowe of Nebraska was second with 542 and George R. Gross of Depauw University was third with 495. Miller was expected to be assigned to residence in Mexico City.
In Milwaukee, Mrs. Clara Post wed George Athieln in a surprise ceremony at the bride’s home. The nuptials were performed by Judge John C. Karel, witnessed by prominent local families.
James C. Godfrey of Milwaukee will serve as president of the Wisconsin Wholesale Growers association for the coming year after election at the annual meeting. Elected officers include M. J Bray as first vice president Mitchell Joannes as second vice president Francis S Dewey as treasurer and Francia Rikert as secretary. About thirty wholesale dealers from across the state attended.
In Racine Wisconsin laborer Walter Christensen was buried under four and a half feet of dirt while digging a ditch. He survived about an hour and was rescued by police after a passerby heard faint cries. He is unconscious with a severe scalp wound but other injuries are minor. In Superior Wisconsin Robert Larsen was buried under dirt and gravel after a riverbank slide. A motorist spotted his foot, freeing him. He was unconscious at rescue but revived hours later with only slight injuries.
Washington D C John W 4H Crim special assistant to the attorney general testified before the senate Daugherty committee about heavy work in Washington and neglect of district attorney offices out in the country He cited Chicago where 22 jury trials in 1922 indicated inefficiency and demoralization urging less politics and simpler processes to enforce laws.

Waennau Wisconsin reports 12 year old Max Nowak hanged himself in his barn at home. He had been in poor health and his death leaves a widow and eight children.
Dr George W Webster of Carthage New York told the osteopathic eye ear nose and throat specialists in Kirksville that catarrh results from lack of mineral foods and undigested animal protein. He urged eating more meat and beans while avoiding white bread sugar and grease. The American Osteopathic Society convention opened yesterday and runs through Saturday with the jubilee celebration of osteopathy marking fifty years since its founder.
