Arrest Pair In Beating Of Bay Officer

GREEN BAY AP A traffic violation stop led to a violent struggle as Patrolman Lawrence Van Pay was beaten and disarmed by two brothers Jude Alberts 23 and Virgil Alberts 18. A massive manhunt with 50 officers ended in their arrest. Van Pay remained hospitalized with a possible concussion a forearm injury and a broken hand. The gun was recovered from a relative’s garage after Virgil was traced to a Preble home and Jude contacted police from his Green Bay residence.

Insurance Man Draws Probation for Fraudulent Premiums

David R. Maloney of La Crosse received three years probation after pleading guilty to fraudulent use of insurance premiums. Viet Nam Seeks Border Parley With Cambodia

A South Vietnamese spokesman at the United Nations said Saigon wants border talks with Cambodia and would welcome U.N. help to arrange them. Pham Khac Rau stated this after the Security Council debated Cambodia's charge that South Vietnam and the United States committed aggression. Retired Dean Among State Road Victims

Miss Laura Sutherland 75 longtime Eau Claire State College history professor and former dean of women died when her car hit a semi truck at an Eau Claire street intersection. The Crawford County crash Tuesday claimed young driver McDonald H. Muller 18 of Muscoda near Prairie du Chien on Highway 16. The state's 1964 traffic toll rose to 346 with the day’s deaths.
