Senate appropriations panel plans raising WPA work relief to 1.425 billion dollars to fund eight months. Hopkins warns relief rolls could reach 2.8 to 3.0 million, noting Illinois and Ohio crises and urging state action to provide funds.
St Paul independent candidate Fallon was declared mayor after a recount contest filed by John J McDonough. Fallon led by BAG votes, about 120 more than initial tally certified by the canvassing board.
About 150 truck drivers and yard workers from 10 Oshkosh fuel and building material dealers struck for a 5 cent hourly wage increase. The walkout tied up deliveries to firms including South Side Wood and Coal, Cook & Brown Lime, Winnebago Ice and Fuel, Oshkosh Pure Ice, F. M. Fond du Lac Wisconsin butcher Adolf Ertl 30 owner of a Brotherton meat market was killed and three others injured in a two car collision on Highway 53 near Taycheedah. Passenger Adolf Ertl rode with Bernard Buechel 25 of Chilton. Cronk of Chicago Joel Sally Smith also reported. Police C. Colman said Buechel car side swiped Cronk car. vehicle then struck trees and overturned on opposite sides of the road.
