Forest fires checked as heavy rain dampens tinder in Clintonville
In Clintonville on May 18 heavy rains overnight and Sunday delayed a threatened forest fire flare up north and east of town. A Friday blaze caused by sparks from burning rubbish near Sedgwick’s Drug Store nearly ignited F P A building and nearby shops and homes. Strong south wind and dry structures raised alarms before chemical fire suppressants were used to halt the blaze.
