Airport Improvement Plan Unveiled For Winnoba County Airport
The county aviation committee heard a revised plan to improve Winnneba go County Airport, including a new 6,700 foot north south runway 550 feet west of the current one and a shifted end 3,650 feet from West 20th Avenue. The project would cost about $2 million with a net $4,000 increase after economies. The present control tower may be replaced as it cannot support the expanded facilities. The new runway would place its north end within 3,650 feet of West 20th Avenue and its south end near Ripple Road, about two miles from the tower. Jordan of the State Aeronautics Commission said the upgrade would be substantial at a modest cost and aims for North Central jet service in 1987.
