17 Year Old Admit Murder at Northern Colony
A 17 year old inmate of the Northern Colony and Training School in Chippewa Falls admitted to a coroner s jury that he stabbed fellow inmate Robert Levisee six times in a dress rehearsal murder. He said the attack was to practice for a planned killing of another inmate who allegedly squealed. Three other inmates testified they lured Levisee to a creek bank where Butterfield waited to stab him. The victim was buried near the creek and found the next day. The jury ruled Levisee died from Butterfield s wounds and referred further disposition to the state board of control which holds custody of Butterfield.

Flames in Shamrock Club Kill Four in San Francisco
A torch dancer's flare ignited draperies at the Shamrock club on Geary Street causing a deadly blaze. Two men and two women died, nine injured, as patrons fled a single exit in the downtown hotel district. Names include Jo Dickinson and Mrs. Elsie Marler.

Baraboo Library Fire Destroys 34 Years of Periodicals
Baraboo Wisconsin fire gutted the Carnegie library early today. Fire Chief Ernest Ross said the basement workroom for a WPA sewing project housed periodicals and sewing materials that burned and spread to the reading room. About 149,609 books were damaged and many gifts to the library were soaked while crews saved a portion of the collection. The cause was undetermined as of 2 a.m.
