A Pessenger train on the St Louis and San Francisco line, No 206, left Memphis at 9 25 and was held up between Jonesboro and Bonnerville at 2 this morning. Four attackers blew open the express car with dynamite in a blind siding, escaped in darkness, and left no booty. A Bonnerville posse with bloodhounds pursues. details are scarce. In Chicago two robbers attacked A Kaemfer Jewelers at West Madison Street. Kaemfer was shot fatally wounded and a colored helper, Eugene Wood, shot in the leg while resisting. The robbers fled, crowd stalled them, and later “Kid” Murray was arrested on suspicion.

An exceptional May snowstorm hit Oshkosh on Friday night and Saturday morning May 10 1962. Heavy wet snow, driven by strong winds, blanketed streets and roofs and forced sidewalks to be shoveled as residents awoke to a rare wintry surprise. A Northwestern railroad wreck on the Ashland division near Hortonville left eight cars piled in a ditch. Yrakemun Kietn of Kaukauna was killed instantly. The report, filed from Appleton, notes a freight train collision with another freight, causing the fatality.
