County aviation committee signs leases with three rental firms

The Common Council voted 5 to 2 to abandon the $13 per running foot paving assessment for 14th Avenue and revert to about $7.30. Attorney Thomas Hughes, for Buckstaff and Coca Cola, argued the street improves mainly for Pioneer Hotel Marina and offered to cap Buckstaff and Coca Cola at 10 percent of the cost. City Attorney John Pence noted Pioneer interests were not charged for all of Pioneer Drive due to the navigation channel. Councilman Robert Moser urged moving ahead, saying sacrifices would be needed.
