Trade Barrier Cut Is Pledged

Geneva dispatch reports President Johnson pledging to reduce trade barriers as the Kennedy round of tariff talks opens with 42 nations, read by Christian Herter. A series of Waushara County special sections will run on Saturdays in the Daily Northwestern starting May 30 with Wautoma. 12 Die In State Crashes 1964 Toll Tops 314

Wisconsin highway deaths for 1964 reached the 314 mark today, 94 ahead of last year. Eleven persons died as a result of accidents during the weekend and one death was attributed to a crash last Thursday. Ernest A. Amundson, 44, of Cameron died after his car collided with a truck on Highway 53 near Cameron. He died hours after being taken to a Rice Lake hospital. Renee Griegnon, 17, of Neopit was killed when a car carrying five teenagers crashed west of Gresham.

Ten Injured In 41 Crash At Highway 41 Intersection

A three car crash at Highway 41 and Fourth Street Road Sunday afternoon injured ten people. Eight were taken to Mercy Hospital with facial cuts, fractures, and other injuries. The Michigan and Fond du Lac travelers included multiple family members. Sheriff reports Chester failed to yield as the Ball car hit first, sending all three vehicles off the roadway.

Two Racial Decisions Undisturbed by Court

Washington AP Supreme Court declined to review lower court rulings involving two race related school cases. In Gary Indiana Black students argued segregation by district attendance areas while in Jacksonville Florida Black students asserted a right to nonracial control over entire school systems. The order offered no comment and did not resolve the broader issue of desegregation.

Lost Boy Found With Dishwasher New Brunswick

In New Brunswick New Jersey AP police decide today what to do with a 17 year old dishwasher James Sav age who said he picked up a lost and cold 3 year old Timothy Hughes in New York City. He brought the boy 25 miles by bus to his rented room in Woodbridge where the boy was found Sunday unharmed. Savage, a runaway from a state school in 25 foster homes, is held in Middlesex County juvenile detention. Timothy was back in Queens with his father Gerard mother Lorraine and brother Richard 7. New York police had searched the Flushing playground area block by block after the child vanished. Savage said he found the boy near the Worlds Fair at about 5 pm Saturday and tried to locate the parents.

Twelve State Students Hurt In Rail Wrecks

Two train crashes injured twelve Wisconsin people on Saturday. Marin High School seniors en route to Washington rode a Baltimore and Ohio train that derailed near LaPorte Indiana, wounding ten students including Ruth Frieburg who required hospital care. A Great Northern derailment near Minneapolis hospitalized Gladwan Jones and daughter Vicki Jones, both hurt but released. Saigon Tensions Rise After Card Sinking Attack

The destroyer Lyman K. Swenson arrived in Saigon for show of force following the Card sinking in the Saigon River. Negro interrupts debate on rights in Senate gallery

A well dressed young Negro interrupted the Senate civil rights debate in Washington as he rose in the gallery and denounced the poor attendance on the floor. Kenneth Washington of Passaic New Jersey was identified by police and taken to DC General Hospital for mental observation after being escorted out. The incident occurred as Senator Smathers spoke against the civil rights bill. Mansfield urged a package of amendments while the Senate prepared to vote on the jury trial provision.

Riots hit Sofia and Prague on May Day weekend

AP reports a second Soviet bloc riot in three days as Communist youths blocked Sofia churches during Easter Mass, with hundreds clashing with police. in Prague 31 people were arrested for disturbing the peace as 3,000 students rioted in Kinsky Park amid anti government chants.

LBJ to Visit Poverty States

President Johnson will visit lands across five states including Ohio North and South regions this week. White House press secretary George Reedy said the two day trip on Thursday and Friday will stop in five states with Athens Ohio hosting an event tied to Ohio University anniversary. He will spend Thursday night in Atlanta Georgia and broader stops not announced. The itinerary aims to spotlight the Appalachian area and Johnsons anti poverty program.
