In Chicago Frank Jordan alias Carlson alleged slayer of two officers was knocked to the sidewalk by Thomas Durkin of Detroit brother of one victim. A coroner s jury later verdicted murder and recommended holding Jordan for the grand jury for the fatal shooting of Officer Patrick Durkin. Jordan had been indicted for the murder of Officer Anthony Rubhy who died minutes after the Thursday night shooting at Michigan boulevard and Randolph street. Durkin halted the inquest and protected his man s guards then helped to subdue Jordan before the coroner ordered a ten minute delay while detective officials investigated.
