Milwaukee March 31 Special to The Northwestern testimony from defense reveals Al Schissler as early as 10 p.m. November 25 prepared to shoot someone. Miss Kallas, his sister in law, testified Schissler, after learning his wife was absent, handled a revolver on the dining room table and spoke to his baby daughter with tearful questions about what he had to live for.
Carl Dowdell, stabbed nine times by Z L Young who believed his daughter was betrayed is expected to recover. Since the act, all developments show Young’s suspicions were groundless. He will be charged only with third degree assault.
Judge Stimson rules the board of health cannot exclude unvaccinated children from public schools. This is the first test of the law enacted two years ago at the urging of anti vaccinationists. The decision will be appealed.

A disastrous fire in Kendall, Monroe county, wiped out Fetker's hardware store, Adrian's general store, George Evans' jewelry, the Ingalls hotel, Wire's Union, and two or three smaller establishments. Total loss estimate not yet determined.
Madison March 31 The Wisconsin Assembly voted 61 to 2 to reject the Senate referendum amendment to the primary bill. The session discussed a conference committee and possible compromise seeking a statewide vote at the spring election of 1904. Educational bill stalled as Senator North blocks proceeding and educators press compulsory schooling. Petitions circulate seekingJudge Ray Stevens appointment if Sie Becker leaves the bench.
Berlin report says Herrmann, a cashier with 27 years at the Mayence people's bank, confessed to stealing 370000 in funds. He sought a director’s seat and for life pension, offering to return money for $6250 plus annual pension, but directors refused and launched legal action to recover the missing sum remaining.

The funeral for John Morrisey, longtime Winnebago County settler, was held Monday at St. Mary's on Merritt Street with Rev. Tulley presiding. Interment followed in Gogging's cemetery. Morrisey, 76, died Friday evening from complications. He came to Wisconsin in 1854 after living in Ireland, New York, and Ohio, and left a widow Anna Morrisey, a daughter Miss Mary Morrisey, two sons Timothy and D W Morrisey, and a brother T Morrisey.

B L Cornish Republican nominee for city treasurer is a 65 year old Oshkosh resident and Winnebago county pioneer. A Civil War veteran with three years service, he worked in farming and later in manufacturing including Howard Paper and Foote Cornish roller mill ventures. He resides at 92 Park Street with his wife Vergil and three children. His long GOP loyalty and ward support suggest a strong electoral bid.
Washington March 31 ratifications of the Cuban reciprocity treaty were exchanged by Secretary Hay and Minister Quesada at the state department at ten o’clock this morning. The treaty will not be proclaimed until Congress acts.
R C Richardson of 144 Cherry Avenue, regarded as Oshkorh's father of spiritualism, announces plans for cremation at death. On his 77th birthday, March 28, he urges minimalist burial: no embalming, no services, and a plain coffin. He prefers cremation in Milwaukee and disposal of ashes without ceremony. He cautions heirs against costly funerals.
Special to The Northwestern Appleton Wis March 1 John Kirg fled from Taone Forest county with a fifteen year old girl and eloped. Arrested at Laona and brought to town he faces a circuit court appearance this afternoon. The girl is said to be the daughter of a Taone resident. Kirg allegedly married once already, leaving his wife at Fish Creek.
The Indian Affairs Commissioner announces plans to disburse about 32 million dollars to the six nations of New York and the Stockbridge Munsee Brothertown groups of Wisconsin. Each member will receive about 300 dollars. Checks will be issued by a special agent after identity verification, with disbursement expected to begin only after formal preliminaries complete.
The city block bounded by Carr Collinge Third streets and Franklin avenue in St. Louis has been transferred to H Badgley for the Wabash Railway Company to build a new freight depot. The property sold for nine hundred fifty thousand dollars in the downtown business district.
