Investigators seek blame after a Central of Georgia train struck a bus at a rail crossing near Byron. Eleven people died, three were seriously injured in Macon hospitals. Prisoners Help Fire Dept At State Farm Barn Fire
Forty prisoners at the Oregon State Prison Farm aided the Oregon fire department in fighting a blaze that destroyed a 90 year old livestock barn. The barn, one of the oldest in Dance county, was built with lumber hauled by horse team from Milwaukee. No escapes occurred during either fire this month.

Fred Emerson a 26 year old Milwaukee man disappeared after a fishing trip on the Fox river near the Chicago Northwestern bridge. Police dragged the river and searched with friends reporting hearing a noise they initially attributed to ice. Emerson lived at 1722 West Wells street and was described as slight, about 5 feet 5 inches, 120 pounds, wearing overalls a sheepskin coat and red rubber overshoes.
