LANCASTER AP John Treglowa 19 Benton ruled sane and capable of stand ing trial for first degree murder in the slaying of a Platteville State University coed shot dead in the Student Union last December. Circuit Court Judge Richard Orton made the finding after court-appointed psychiatrists testified on the trial’s opening day. Treglown pleaded innocent and innocent by reason of insanity and waived a jury trial.
CAPE KENNEDY Fla AP reports Virgil Grissom and John Young became the 18th and 19th space flyers, joining a chain of missions since Yuri Gagarin’s first orbital flight. The list catalogs crews, durations, and dates from 1961 to 1965, noting suborbital and orbital missions by US and Soviet astronauts.
Birmingham police pressed an investigation into six potent dynamite bombs found in predominantly Negro neighborhoods since Sunday. A Dane County two car crash killed a 73 year old Madison woman and her 50 year old Chicago daughter amid a rise in Wisconsin’s traffic toll to 177 for 1965. The victims were Mrs Julius Ruter and Mrs Hazel Prenot passengers in a vehicle driven by Ruter who was among five injured with four in serious condition.
