Railpax Announces Midwest Routes by City Pairs

Court Refuses To End Bribery Case

The Supreme Court refused to squash bribery and perjury charges against Rep. John Dowdy of Texas. Dowdy faced trial in Baltimore May 3 for allegedly taking a $25,000 bribe to aid Monarch Construction. The court also left intact a ruling allowing Fort Jackson to ban distribution of material seen as a danger to troop loyalty.

Lucey backs special state court for environmental appeals

Gov. Patrick Lucey faces a push from his Environmental Task Force for a new specialized environment court in Wisconsin. UPI reports Capt. Carlos Proveda was relieved after troops refused orders to face Communist fire near the Laotian border. Brig. Gen. Hill said Proveda, described as lacking experience, was replaced by a more experienced officer after a series of events stemming from a tactical error.

Mass Protest Arrests In Washington By Jewish Defense League

About 700 militant Jews were arrested after a sit-in near the Soviet Embassy in Washington. Rabbi Meir Kahane led 2500 demonstrators from New York New Jersey and Philadelphia. Police cleared the street after a court ruling, 689 people were released by midnight on $10 bail.
