Christenson Named Deputy Attorney General in Wisconsin

Arlen C. Christenson assistant professor of law at the University of Wisconsin and 1964 campaign manager for Atty. Gen. Bronson La Follette has been named deputy attorney general. He succeeds John Bowers who resigns effective April 15 to return to private practice.

Red Convoy, Gunboats Hit North Viet Nam

U S jet pilots said they struck heavy blows in North Viet Nam blasting over half of a 50 vehicle convoy in a mountain pass and sinking or damaging five gunboats. Marine spokesmen reported at least 205 Communists killed in expanding operations in South Viet Nam. Ten Marines died in a helicopter crash and a Skyhawk crashed on a bombing run. the pilot was rescued. A Voodoo reconnaissance jet was shot down northeast of Vinh, with the pilot listed as missing. Viet Cong attacked Dalat airport before dawn, damaging planes. Buddhist students demonstrated peacefully in Da Nang and Hue against Ky’s government. Thich Tam Chau halted a student demonstration in Saigon.

Authorities Plan To Halt Search For Missing Pair

LAS CRUCES NM Authorities plan a final land and air search by the Civil Air Patrol for Richard Stiles and his wife from Sheboygan Wisconsin. High winds hampered Monday efforts as planes were set to take to the air for the last attempt in the 150 mile distant search from Carlsbad to Las Cruces. The twin engine craft departed Carlsbad February 22 toward Las Cruces with Mazatlan Mexico as a believed destination.

Severe storm damages Lake Geneva region. injuries and six figure losses reported

A rapid spring storm swept Delavan Lake Williams Bay and Lake Geneva causing roofs to go, farm buildings to crumble and highways to scatter debris. One person was injured and damages reached six figures as power outages lasted up to four hours. The storm tracked from Darien through lakefront areas to Springfield then across Lake Michigan, with officials noting many homes lost roofs and a motel addition torn apart.
