Madison March 22 reports indicate no United States senator ballot before May 14 as committees delay action. A split vote left indefinite postponement possible, with May 14 likely as final balloting target while legislators prepare for the contest.
Milwaukee March 22 F A Reinhart fined 600 dollars and costs in district court by Judge Neelen on conspiracy to defraud charges. Defense counsel indicated appeal to municipal court. Only Reinhart arrested and jailed. judgment rendered against him as state closed. Medical testimony questioned whether conspiracy required multiple defendants.
The funeral for Thomas Bailey Aldrich was held Wednesday afternoon at his Boston home on Forty Street. A large gathering of mourners offered final respects to the renowned author and poet, with expressions of admiration for his life and work.
London reports Horace Rayner was tried for the January 24 murder of William Whiteley in Wealbourne. The jury found willful murder. Lord Chief Justice Alverstoni imposed the death sentence with mercy not opposed. Rayner faces hanging within about a month unless the home secretary intervenes.
St Louis March 2 Many delegates left after the final tournament of the American Bowling Congress ended. The program included tests for individuals two man teams and five man teams with daily contests through next Wednesday. Women expected to bowl at least one day. Top scores led by two man teams include Strasskur Rost 1108 and Levy Cooper 1008. Other high marks came from Careér Bryson Pritchett Peacock Lambert Feist Shaw Knoll Prouty and Terdeang among others.
San Francisco reports the deaths of Fred Belasco, wife of a senior park official and known on stage as Fillet Crosby, and an hour later M. L. Mayer, partner of Belasco, following a sudden shock in March.

Separately in Ceiba Honduras the Norwegian steamer Habil was seized by troops.

Proceedings before United States Commissioner D B H McDonald in Oshkosh dealt with the Western Wisconsin Railway and Light Company the Winnebago Traction Company and the city. The hearing was continued this afternoon with testimony from witnesses read from the circuit court record as Judge Th Vi Quarles presiding. Attorney W C Cowling did not attend citing other matters. Other counsel appeared for the parties with Bouck Tittan Thompson Thompson Pinkerton and Col Mary Weel.
Rev A E Miner formerly of La Porte Indiana leaves church leadership after deserting the ministry to join the Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul railway. He takes a clerk position in Milwaukee at Fowler and Third freight office under W G Miller. He has worked a week and shows potential as a railway man with duties mainly minor while learning railroad methods.
Berlin reports Count Arco advances in wireless voice experiments using 30 foot poles achieving distinct word exchanges over two miles. US Admiral Munney and Lt Commander Howard witnessed private demonstrations. Telefunken networks earlier telephoned twenty five miles to Charlottenburg with Beuldos equipment, though clarity varied.
Patrick Calhoun, president of the United Railroads of San Francisco, said in New York that he intends to depart for San Francisco soon. He had aimed to reach the city in May but now plans to go earlier due to the charges against Abraham Trues, in which United Railroads is accused of bribery.
Chicago March 22 Louis Thadescott secretary and treasurer of the National Cycle company committed suicide today by shooting himself in the head. He had suffered for some time from nervous debility and recently arrived from Sycamore Illinois.
Arthur Bean, 30, killed his wife with an ax in North Baltimore Ohio last night and then shot himself. Bean had argued with his wife's family and had forbidden contact. She returned to visit relatives and he persuaded her to go home where the fatal quarrel occurred.
A noon fire at the Trenton Lumber Co yards in Trenton Ohio caused over 100 dollars in damage. Sparks spread to about a dozen areas, consuming many of the city’s finest residences. The fire department could not control it and aid arrived from Ashland Kentucky as roughly twenty homes burned in different sections.
