Capital newspapers publish a war department statement approving the vacation of 149 mutineers. Huerta’s officers carry out wholesale executions, seen as administrative approval to rule the conscripted army with an iron hand. Reports claim more men were executed at Jojutla than at any time since 1847.
In Detroit early today an armed robber dressed in a fur lined overcoat robbed W. H. Burns at the Motel Metropole office near city hall. He then forced the driver to speed to the suburbs in a waiting limousine, escaping about three miles from downtown. The man claimed a Chicago score but said this would help compensate.
El Mocho of Orto Rian and generals Hernandez Baptista Alcantara Olivares meet in New York after returning from Porto Rico. They plan to invade Venezuela from Port of Spain in April to unseat President Gomez. A Venezuelan revolutionary movement is under way.
In Beaumont Texas on March 19 a Wells Fargo express car robbery netted about $15,000 aboard a northbound Gulf Colorado Santa Fe train. A posse searched Helbig woods after the slip of Meb Martin the messenger was found tied in a sack onboard. A second report from Tonica Illinois notes burglars seized $2,800 from the Tonica State Bank with a $200 reward offered for capture.
The British steamer Nubian signalled at Kinsale Ireland that it has the crew of the American schooner Julia A Tribee aboard. The Julia A Tribee was abandoned March 7 while sailing from Perth Amboy to Martinsane. The Nubian was en route from Galveston to Liverpool.
Detroit March 19 A. J. Tutte denied Western Union an injunction against juvenile strikers. The court ruled the alleged fighting and interference with interstate messages fell under police action, not federal injunctive relief. The boys seek higher pay for messenger delivery beyond the normal route.
Police report two girls died from gas in a Chicago residence while the parents and a baby boy lay unconscious. Physicians fear they may also die. The father and eldest daughter were in bed when the gas entered. Mrs. John Lindstrom was found dressed near the kitchen door with the infant, as gas escaped from several open stoves.
March 18 in Jaondun the house of commons debated a censure motion led by Andrew Bonar Law over Asquith's refusal to detail the local option plan for Ulster and a possible referendum on home rule. Sir Edward Carson backed Law, denouncing a Nationalist claim as a wilful falsehood as tensions rose and warrants for leaders were denied.
Coeds at the University of Illinois are being taught swimming in their clothing to overcome the hazard of dresses and jackets in emergencies. The program, announced locally, aims to prepare students to act quickly in water incidents.

Snow began falling in Nashville and reports indicate light fall over parts of Tennessee and Alabama. If cold weather lasts a day or two the peach crop could be seriously damaged. Secretary Lane selected a name for a glacier lake in Glacier National Park honoring Mrs. Ellen Wilson, wife of the president. The lake, reportedly the most beautiful of its size in the region, measures about a mile long and a half mile wide.
Albany March 19 McGee former New York policeman promoted the Thaw extradition issue at a Progressive convention. He claimed to circulate a large petition signed by thousands supporting the Golfien resolution to stop state efforts to extradite Harry K Thaw. Two New York lawyers also attended Thaw’s interest gathering with McGee and supporters.
Washington reports no rebel generation in Hayti as gunboat Nanhyilie and Senator Theodore push to seize the presidency. Government troops are said to control Perches and Trafferrier Rouge near Grande Basin.
Special to Fhre Northycdtera n Bay Wisconsin reports a blaze at the Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul railway office yard in Suring. The fire damaged a switching station and seven docked pouches of grain. Cause unknown. contents of the pouches not determined. The items were transferred from another line.
Washington March 19. President Wilson nominated William K. Jarke, Jr. of Ancon Canal Zone to be district attorney of the canal zone. The appointment signals continued U S legal leadership in the region.

The trial of Ellen Gates Starr founder of Hall House social settlement began on a charge of resisting a police officer. Starr demanded a jury trial after arrest tied to alleged participation in picketing by waitresses' union at a downtown restaurant. Police testified a crowd gathered as Starr protested arrest, urging others to strike.
Fire swept the Toughton–Detroit Elevator company building in downtown Detroit killing three men on the fifth floor. A fourth worker escaped via a skylight with severe burns and could not provide names or details. The blaze damaged the elevator offices and spread to an adjoining structure.
