Scholarship To Honor Publisher A $1000 Oscar J. Hardy Memorial Award
A $1,000 Oscar J. Hardy Memorial scholarship will be awarded this year to a 1957 Oshkosh Daily Northwestern carrier boy or past carrier who plans to attend college. The Oshkosh Foundation will determine the recipient on basis of character, academics, need, and carrier record, with eligibility open to graduates in Oshkosh and Winnebago land. Applications are available through the Oshkosh Foundation at the First National Bank, Oshkosh. Oscar J. Hardy was longtime publisher of the Oshkosh Daily Northwestern and died August 6, 1950.

Emergency Hospital Unit Arrives in Oshkosh Wisconsin
An emergency hospital unit arrived in Oshkosh as part of Wisconsin civil defense plans. The 13 ton shipment from the Naval Industrial Reserve Center in Seneca arrived by semitrailer and will be stored at the 9th and Nebraska Street fire station. A second unit is expected daily and will be placed at Mercy Hospital. The Oshkosh unit includes three operating rooms X-ray equipment a generator 200 beds and four weeks of supplies.
