Kort Washington Wisconsin dispatch reports Fred May of Traverse City Michigan received life in prison at Waupun after a jury found him guilty of first degree murder in the holdup slaying of tavernkeeper Alex Baumgarten. Co-defendants Lawrence Sargent and Orin Bridges were convicted of second degree murder and sentenced to 14 to 20 years and 14 to 18 years respectively. May admitted firing the fatal shot on January 15 during the holdup. Sheriff Ben Runkel said the prisoners would be moved to Waupun today.
