Basic School Plans Okayed

Washington Elementary School plans were approved by the board of education at its March meeting. The two story building will be on the old Frentz School site and combined with a new Franklin School in an $890,000 bond issue covering construction, architects fees, equipment and contingencies.

Wintry Storm Deluges Midwest With Destruction and Death

A widespread wintry storm lashed the Midwest with up to 60 mph winds and heavy snow, causing at least four traffic deaths in the region and widespread travel misery. Minnesota and Iowa bore the brunt with six inches or more of snow and zero visibility in places, while Illinois saw tornado sightings and isolated damage. Temperatures plunged by over 30 degrees as cold air collided with warmer air, with additional reports of blowing dust in the Dakotas and storms stretching from Kentucky to Michigan.

City finance officers were delegated Thursday to conduct the city's auction sale of a 1.4 million dollar corporate purpose bond issue to be held at City Hall at 10 o'clock Monday morning. Record Setting Blimp Near End of Journey

KEY WEST Florida UP four-shave remained aloft 264 hours teen weary crew members of the ZPG-2 during a record breaking journey across the Atlantic. The cigar shaped blimp crossed Puerto Rico and coasted toward the Florida coast awaiting a 6 30 p m landing time. It had traveled from Germany to Japan previously and may eclipse the distance record by about 64 hours if it lands on schedule tonight. The lighter than air craft carries radar equipment and can serve as a long range patrol or submarine hunter.

Charred Baby Body Found In Menasha Incinerator

The charred remains of a newborn girl were found in an incinerator behind a Menasha apartment at 515 Keyes Street. Janitor Milton Pahr discovered the body at 2:15 p.m. and authorities, including Sheriff Lowry and Coroner Steele, conducted the investigation. an autopsy labeled the birth term and suggested the child was placed in the incinerator soon after birth. Explosion at A-Center Ignites Reactor Core

The AEC reported a test atomic power reactor core exploded on February 12 in Los Alamos. No injuries occurred but the power unit was destroyed. The naked core, a sphere of uranium 235 about 4 inches in diameter, was suspended in the assembly. Building damage reached twenty and radiation contamination has been cleaned by standard methods.
